Why should we eat healthy food?



We are all more than likely aware of the benefits eating healthy food can have on our body. For instance, fueling our body with nutritious foods can aid in weight loss, speed up metabolism, strengthen our immune system, or reduce the risk of diseases such as obesity, diabetes, or heart disease. The physical benefits of eating healthy food are important and a typical motivator for most individuals who want to start or continue to eat healthy food. However, today we will be discussing how fueling our bodies with nutritious foods cannot only benefit our physical health, but it can greatly benefit our mental, emotional, and social health and wellbeing. 

Fueling our body with nutrient dense foods rather than calorically dense foods can have numerous effects on our mind and body, for instance it can affect how: 

  • Energized we are to take on daily tasks (such as studying for an exam, walking outside, going to the gym, running errands, etc.)

  • We feel about ourselves

  • We treat our peers

  • Our mood

  • We feel tomorrow

  • We feel in a couple years

Filling our bodies with nutritious foods will not only benefit our mind and body today and tomorrow, but it will significantly affect our mind and body years from now. Personally, I plan to live a long, adventurous life and I foresee that I can only live this adventurous lifestyle with optimal health. Therefore, we invite you take the opportunity to prioritize what you put into your body so you can live your life to its fullest capacity.
