The journey to live a healthy lifestyle is an ongoing process that looks different for everyone. You more than likely have various motivators encouraging you to improve your overall wellbeing, whether you are beginning or already in this process. Since everyone’s health and wellness journey is fueled by unique motivators, we will be discussing the importance of identifying your motivation and how to identify what motivates you if you have not done so yet.
It is important to identify specific motivators when beginning your journey to live a healthy lifestyle because motivation is not constant. There will be numerous moments when motivation is running low and self-doubt, fatigue, and life obstacles will want to take over. To have doubts and to be tired is normal, and it is important to remember during these difficult times of why you decided to work towards living a healthy lifestyle.
Motivation can be identified by asking ourselves questions such as: Why do I want or need to live a healthy lifestyle? Why do I want or need to improve my overall wellbeing? What will I gain from living a healthy lifestyle? It can be greatly beneficial to write down how the answers to these questions pertain to you. Examples of motivators include but are not limited to: to lose or gain weight, push yourself out of your comfort zone, improve overall wellbeing, improve self-confidence or self-image, medical reasons, or to feel more energized.
We welcome you to make a goal for yourself to clearly identify the specific reasons motivating you to live a healthy lifestyle. This can be used as the foundation of your health and wellness journey, and as a reminder of why you chose to begin this journey in the first place.
